Roger Heslop:
Christchurch
Roger was born in Christchurch and spent his youth on a Canterbury farm. His first memories of art were watching his mother draw and she taught him the basic skills of pencil work. His strength in art was noticed at primary school where he illustrated many of his classmates work. At High School he studied technical drawing which lead to a career in building and design. Art therefore took a back seat!
In the late 90’s Roger started working on pencil portraits and he has taken lessons in watercolour, pastel and oils.
Currently, Roger is incorporating his love of texture and colour into his work and enjoying the use of knife and impasto techniques.
