Drawing inspiration from the ’seen and the unseen’, Jane Riley’s artworks depict the beauty she sees and interprets with tremendous energy, passion and flair, often incorporating textures of sand, gemstones, shells and other natural materials. The finished artworks are striking - unique - vibrating with flamboyant colour and design, expertly blended with bold brush strokes - “food for the soul - tranquil and healing”, she maintains.
The artist grew up living beneath the spectacular Southern Alps at Fox Glacier. Here majestic peaks thrust thousands of metres above foothills blanketed with native rainforest. Jane’s artworks reflect her love of the natural environment.
"Changing lights of day are constant sources of inspiration, as are the occasional auroras that appear in crystal-clear starlit nights," she says.
Jane Riley is published as one of New Zealand’s Favourite artists and her artworks are displayed in various national and international private collections. Extensive overseas travel has amplified the artist’s appreciation of the peace and beauty in New Zealand where she feel fortunate to live “The life of Riley”.
