Jenny Baker:
Canterbury
Jenny is a North Canterbury artist who also teaches several art groups.
She started painting 30 years ago when she lived in Kaikoura, starting in watercolours then trying oils, encouraged by the delightful Kaikoura Art Group. Later Jenny discovered Folk Art and loved the acrylics and mixed media, using them on canvas, not just wood. She has now returned to oils but uses different techniques to the way she previously used them.
Living for many years in the MacKenzie Country, Southland and Marlborough, she became inspired with the beauty of the mountains, lakes and sea and these feature in many of her paintings.
Some of her work displays more traditional landscapes, but she has dabbled with more modern design and differing media.
Over the years, she has sold many paintings through exhibitions and galleries in both Canterbury and Marlborough.
